Jim
Pollicita, Executive Director
Jim joined the Volunteer Connection as executive director on March 8, 2010.
Jim brings 30 years experience in nonprofit organizations, higher education,
and business. He served in Peace Corps (Costa Rica), and has long been involved
as a volunteer in the arts, education, and direct service, currently serving
on the BVSD District Accountability Committee and Budget Advisory Committee,
the State Advisory Council on Parent Involvement in Education, and in various
service roles through his church.
Sue McCullough, Services & MentorsMatter Coordinator
Sue joined the Volunteer Connection staff in February
2008. She oversees the services provided by Volunteer Connection for both
volunteers and agencies as well as manages our annual event, I Volunteer!
Day. Sue also facilitates the MentorsMatter Program. Sue brings many years
of corporate sales experience as well as volunteer recruitment and project
management experience to the Volunteer Connection team and holds a degree
in Sociology from Illinois State University. She has been volunteering for
over 16 years. Sue and her husband moved to Boulder from the Chicago area
in 2007 and are enjoying all that Colorado has to offer.
Morgan Lipton, Bookkeeper
Morgan joined Volunteer Connection in 2003 as the Office
Manager and continues to support the organization as the Bookkeeper. Through
her work at Volunteer Connection, Morgan has been inspired and amazed by the
work being completed by local nonprofits and the contributions of dedicated
volunteers to meet our community's diverse needs. In addition to her work
with the VC, she is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Speech-Language
Pathology from CU-Boulder and serves as a board member for the International
Dyslexia Association's Rocky Mountain Branch.
Meg Preo, Communications Coordinator
Meg served as a volunteer administrative assistant for Volunteer Connection
for ten months before joining the staff as Interim Communications Coordinator
in February 2010. Meg brings many years of experience in journalism, educational
publishing, and office management. Meg has been a lifelong volunteer serving
on numerous community and school committees. Originally from the northeast,
Meg and her husband, Paul, live in Lafayette and enjoy skiing, hiking and
golfing.

Volunteers
Rosemary
Arp, Referral Counselor
Rosemary joined the group of referral counselors at
the Volunteer Connection in the fall of 2009. She has been a volunteer and
coordinated volunteers in a variety of capacities in the five states she has
called home over the years and believes in the wealth of good work that volunteers
contribute to a community. Locally Rosemary worked at the YWCA of Boulder
County as manager of Career Services for three years and now has a private
career counseling practice. She is currently a volunteer member of a local
community organizing group - Boulder Valley Community Action Network (BVCAN).
Lynn
Beaty, Office Assistant
Lynn has been volunteering with Volunteer Connection since 2007. She has lived
in Boulder for over 35 years. She is a former teacher and most recently spent
twenty years at the Daily Camera as the administrative assistant in the publisher’s
office. Lynn has a long history of volunteerism. At Volunteer Connection,
Lynn serves as the Office Assistant. Her responsibilities include preparing
important program materials for volunteers and agencies, tracking and compiling
volunteer and agency statistics, tracking and compiling media placements and
assisting with numerous annual mailings and a variety of miscellaneous projects.
Jean
Barker, Referral Counselor
Jean has been volunteering as a referral counselor
with Volunteer Connection for over 14 years. She has a background in social
work and was a child advocate for 18 years. Jean is also a substitute driver
for Meals on Wheels and visits shut-ins through her church. Having lived and
volunteered in Boulder for over 40 years, she has a wealth of knowledge of
the area’s nonprofit opportunities!
Jill
Ertl, Referral Counselor
Jill came to Volunteer Connection in 1990 looking to
find a volunteer opportunity, and has been a referral counselor ever since.
Jill has also been reading to seniors at Frasier Meadows every week for the
past 20 years.
Bob Hofland, Webmaster
Bob co-developed the Volunteer Connection's database, and has been Computer
Manager and Office Manager in the past. Bob retired from IBM after 25 years
as an Industrial Designer, and now develops and sells laminated topographic
river maps (see www.troutmap.com) and
creates contemporary fine art prints (see www.eprintgallery.com).
Paula
Newcomer, Referral Counselor
Paula comes to Volunteer Connection with 21 years of social work experience
with Boulder County. She has a masters degree in Counseling Psychology from
CU and had been an avid volunteer as part of her studies/professional career.
Her focus had initially been on stress management and wholistic health, until
becoming a caseworker dealing with families and children at risk. Paula is
currently a disaster relief reservist with FEMA, pending nationally declared
disasters/emergencies.
