Laura Kinder, Executive Director
Laura has more than 25 years experience in the nonprofit sector and joined Volunteer Connection as Executive Director in January 2001. In recognition of her 50th birthday and her passion for volunteerism Laura challenged herself to complete 500 hours of community service in one year. Laura exceeded this goal by almost 200 hours and experienced first-hand how volunteering with local agencies can positively impact our communities. Laura lives in the mountains west of Boulder with her partner and two daughters. It is their hope that, among other things, the girls grow up to be volunteers and philanthropists.
Sue McCullough, Services Coordinator
Sue joined the Volunteer Connection staff in February 2008. She oversees the services provided by the Volunteer Connection as well as manages Project Development for our annual I Volunteer! Day, county-wide celebration of service. Sue brings a wealth of corporate sales experience as well as volunteer recruitment and project management experience and holds a degree in Sociology from Illinois State University. She has been volunteering in the nonprofit sector for the past 14 years. Sue and her husband have recently re-located to Boulder from the Chicago area in search of a more relaxing lifestyle.
Wendy Webster, Communications Coordinator
Wendy joined Volunteer Connection in January 2008 as the Communications Coordinator. She brings experience in service learning, fundraising, marketing and public information. Wendy has 10 years of volunteer experience in the non-profit sector. In a past life, Wendy served as a Public Information Officer for a federal court. She has a Master’s degree in Advertising from Michigan State University. Wendy spends her free time with her family skiing, hiking and playing. Her secret goal is to sell one of her paintings.
Elle McPherson, Development Coordinator
Elle joined Volunteer Connection in November 2007 as an AmeriCorps*VISTA focused on fundraising and development. Before coming to Volunteer Connection, she worked with Heifer International, YES! magazine, and Save the Children. Elle holds a degree in Political Science from Bates College and is hoping to pursue a degree in international development. She enjoys cycling, skiing, and yoga.
Morgan Lipton, Bookkeeper
Morgan joined Volunteer Connection in 2003 as the Office Manager and continues to support the organization as the Bookkeeper. Through her work at Volunteer Connection, Morgan has been inspired and amazed by the work being completed by local nonprofits and the contributions of dedicated volunteers to meet our community's diverse needs. In addition to her work with the VC, she is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from CU-Boulder and serves as a board member for the International Dyslexia Association's Rocky Mountain Branch.
Jean Barker, Referral Counselor
Jean has been volunteering as a referral counselor with Volunteer Connection for over 14 years. She has a background in social work and was a child advocate for 18 years. Jean is also a substitute driver for Meals on Wheels and visits shut-ins through her church. Having lived and volunteered in Boulder for over 40 years, she has a wealth of knowledge of the area’s nonprofit opportunities!
Jill Ertl, Referral Counselor
Jill came to Volunteer Connection in 1990 looking to find a volunteer opportunity, and has been a referral counselor ever since. Jill has also been reading to seniors at Frasier Meadows every week for the past 20 years.
