There With Care is a nonprofit organization that provides a range of practical support to families with critically ill children in order to ease the burden of life's day-to-day obligations during the ongoing care of their child.Since serving families for nearly 2 years, There With Care has now launched a new program in Boulder and Broomfield Counties supporting The Cancer Center at the Tebo Family Pavilion, which helps families who have children affected by critical illness. In these cases when there is an ill parent with young children in the home, we are able to support the entire family by bringing in services such as childcare, transportation, prepared meals, grocery delivery and much more. This is where we introduce volunteers Chuck Barnett and Honey Beuf. They're an inspiring couple who volunteer their time to support our families. They came to the organization with experience, compassion and enthusiasm to help others. Following Chuck's own battle with cancer more than a year ago, with Honey by his side, together they learned first-hand the struggles a family faces during a serious illness.Since June of this year, Chuck and Honey have dedicated more than 225 hours of their time caring and supporting many families of There With Care. For more than 6 months, they have assembled and provided lunches weekly for a 2-year old whose mom suffers from a brain tumor. The meals come with a kid-friendly paper plate, but truly they come with much more. Chuck and Honey would never just leave a meal. Each delivery comes with a caring visit, a check-in to see if there is anything else the family may need, a mow of the lawn, a building and planting of a vegetable garden, a fence repair, delivering outdoor table and chairs for mom to sit outside with her son, and most importantly, care and friendship. As Chuck and Honey say, "We both know what it is like to need help, and to not want to ask for it. We had so much help when we needed it. We like to help others who do not have the support structure that we are so fortunate to have."Their dedication to help others in their community doesn't stop there. Chuck also took on a few home projects that involved sanding and staining a backyard deck as well as a yard clean-up so the family could enjoy a nice place for the kids to play. For another family, he organized a team from work to paint the front room of their home so as Chuck said, "it would look nice and be a place where they wanted to be."They are also involved with outreach for There With Care by volunteering at various fairs and booths to help spread the word of the organization they have found a home with. If you are fortunate enough to see their smiles at a festival, you will never see them alone. By their side is always a child, a friend, a neighbor.Chuck and Honey
are truly two remarkable people. Their generosity and dedication to There With
Care and all of the families it serves, is inspirational. We are honored and proud
to know these two incredible people and witness their daily acts of kindness. For information about volunteering with There With Care or other agencies, call the Volunteer Connection at 303-444-4904, or go to our Volunteer Central. | ||||||||||||||||
