Connie Brown
with Voices For Children

by Michael Roberts

Connie Brown has been working as an advocate for children who are victims of neglect and abuse in Boulder County for nearly four years. She is a trained CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for Voices for Children. "Not every kid gets that start they deserve," said Brown. "I care a lot about children… I think they all deserve to feel a sense of self worth."

Brown has been working on three cases over the last four years one of which has lasted two and a half years. She works at least twelve hours a month on her cases and is also a full time nurse.

"During the two and a half years, the children have been moved from placement to placement and their lives have been chaotic. Connie has been the one constant in their lives seeing them every week," said Pam Pullen of Voices For Children CASA.

"I like everything about it," said Brown. In addition to having a full time job and working as a CASA for Voices for Children, Connie has two grown daughters. Voices for Children is an organization that provides essential support for abused and neglected children and highly depends on volunteers like Brown. "Our organization could really use men, and minority volunteers to meet the needs of our children," said Brown.

When asked what Brown would say to anyone thinking of volunteering she said, "We're all richer, fuller persons if we share with others. We all should volunteer."
