| Carol Garn with Emergency Family Assistance Association | |||||||||||||||

From teaching math in South Africa and Turkey, to organizing
the pantry at Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA), Carol Garn spent
much of her life helping others. EFAA provides necessity products and other aid to families in Boulder County, prioritizing those with children, who cannot meet their needs any other way. By allowing people to choose what they need from a set list, EFAA supplements families that have to make tough decisions about where to spend their money. "Since
I have worked there, the numbers have been going up every year" says Carol.
Carol spends two days a week at EFAA organizing the pantry and stocking the basics. For ten years Carol has worked with EFAA, and she volunteers with many other Boulder organizations. Everything Carol does now with EFAA she does as a retiree. This past year EFAA helped 4,500 families in Boulder and distributed 240,000 pounds of food. "EFAA is helping an ever increasing number of needy families in Boulder" says Carol. "I very much
enjoy helping our EFAA clients by my assisting in keeping the food pantry stocked
and well organized" said Carol. When asked what she would say to anyone thinking
of volunteering for EFAA Carol says "There's always a great need." For information about volunteering with Emergency Family Assistance Association or other agencies, call the Volunteer Connection at 303-444-4904, or go to our Volunteer Central. | ||||||||||||||||
