Lynn Beaty, a retired office administrator who worked for the Daily Camera
for more than 20 years, has remained active in the community through her volunteer
efforts.
"I like to see the different aspects of the community,"
she said.
Beaty has been a volunteer with Volunteer Connection, an organization
devoted to matching volunteers with meaningful volunteer opportunities, for a
year and a half.
"It is important to help people find what it is that
fulfills them in a volunteer position," she said.
She provides general office work, and has contributed to database and statistical number analysis. Beaty feels she has brought her skills from working at the Daily Camera to her position at Volunteer Connection.
"I am able to use the skills I acquired during my years working at the Daily Camera while volunteering. I'm detail-oriented and computer literate. Those skills are an asset for my position with Volunteer Connection," she said.
Also, she enjoys the opportunity to be aware of all the volunteer positions that are available through Volunteer Connection. "I enjoy the opportunity to expand my horizons, my knowledge and know what's going on in the community," she said.
In addition to volunteering every
Thursday for Volunteer Connection, Beaty volunteers for Community Food Share.
"I have been volunteering my entire life," she said. "I've found
what makes me whole."
