Bobbie Landis
with RSVP of Boulder County
by LaDaryn Backstrum

Bobbie Landis is retired from the school district food services department and now spends her time helping others. She volunteers in the office at RSVP of Boulder County; an organization that connects seniors with necessary services. RSVP produces a Directory of Senior Services in Boulder County. Their goals are to organize and track volunteer opportunities for seniors and disabled adults. More than 250 local Healthcare, nonprofit and government services benefit from the efforts of people like Landis.

A Longmont resident for 44 years, Landis first volunteered at the Humane Society Thrift Store, then the American Legion, Longmont Community Hospital, Community Food Share, the VFW, Moose Lodge and RSVP. She said, "It gets me out of the house, seeing and being around other people and gives me something to do."

In the Longmont Senior Knitting Group, Landis crochets lap robes that are delivered to Veterans. She also helps collect donated puzzles, books and magazines for the Veteran's Hospitals. "I enjoy helping RSVP, the Moose Lodge, and VFW," said Landis. "After I quit working at the school, being home every day was getting on my nerves!"

Jody Sandel at RSVP said, "Bobbie is a "Rock Star" volunteer! In addition to answering telephones and greeting visitors, one of Bobbie's main responsibilities is to collect hours for over 300 volunteers. Bobbie is an asset to her community and to RSVP Boulder County and we are proud to recognize her as Volunteer of the Month."
