Prescilla Pries teaches English at Intercambio, among other interests. Intercambio de Comunidades is associated with the Parenting Place, helping mothers with child-related issues, as well as improving English skills. Pries has taught both beginning and intermediate classes for the last three years. She became motivated for this volunteer position because she is fluent in Spanish.

"I've got the language ability, and I've got to use it. It's very rewarding when you can help the ladies communicate better," Pries claims.

Pries not only gives of her time at Intercambio, she and her husband devote time volunteering for Hope, distributing sack lunches, water, clothing, and blankets to the homeless. In addition, she helps prepare and serve lunches at the Our Center. Additionally, Pries volunteers at the hospital day-surgery center, manning the desk and offering support for patients and their families.

Pries feels lucky that she is able to give of her time and skills to those less fortunate. "Seeing the expressions of those enjoying a nutritious meal or the ladies, as they learn to communicate better, is satisfying."
