Susan Turner
with Teaching Peace and the Longmont Community Justice Partnership
by Wendy Webster

Since 2003, Susan Turner has invested her heart and her time as a volunteer with Teaching Peace and the Longmont Community Justice Partnership. The Longmont Community Justice Partnership (LCJP) represents an association of community and governmental agencies combining their resources to provide a variety of restorative practices to best serve the specific needs of each circumstance including Community Group Conferences, Restorative Circles, Solutions Workshops, Restorative Decision Making Classes, and Información en Español.

Turner began serving as a Community Member after recognizing the need for an alternative approach to crime and conflict. She has served in several community group conferences as an objective listener, concerned citizen, and facilitator. Turner meets with youth and adult offenders to discuss the impact of their crimes on herself and the community. Then working as part of a team, Turner orchestrates a restorative process which ends in a collective agreement uniquely designed for each offender.

As a Professor at Front Range Community College, Turner is also working to promote Restorative Justice Processes within all 3 campuses.
