A Serve-A-Thon is like a Walk-A-Thon or Bike-A-Thon, where participants raise pledges to support an important effort or cause. Volunteer Connection’s I Volunteer! Day Serve-A-Thon is a county wide celebration of community service engaging hundreds of volunteers at numerous project sites throughout Boulder County. Each dollar raised will help support volunteerism and Volunteer Connection’s year-round efforts to connect community members with community needs.
2. How do I collect pledges?
Download pledge form and
invite others to sponsor your four hour day of service. Sponsors may include
friends, family members, teachers/professors, co-workers, business connections,
fellow congregants, and/or anyone else in your “sphere of influence.”
3. How do I register myself?
To register as an individual volunteer, fill out the Individual
Volunteer Registration Form.
4. How do I register my family?
To register as a family, fill out the Family
Volunteer Registration Form.
5. How do I register my employee group/team?
To register as an employee group/team,
select a Team Captain and Team Name and then submit an online Individual Volunteer
Registration Form. Space is provided to indicate your Team Captain and Group/Team
Name.
6. What if I'm unable to register online?
If unable to register online, please drop by our office to pick up and fill
out a Volunteer Registration Form, or call (303) 444 4904.
7. How do I know where to go for my project?
Prior to the event, you will be contacted by a Volunteer Connection Ambassador
who will provide all Project Site details (site location, directions and any
special instructions or supplies needed).
8. What time should I arrive at my Project Site?
8:00 am SHARP!!! We're eager to get started and the day will run more smoothly
if we all arrive on time!
9. What should I expect when I arrive at my Project
Site?
You will be greeted by a Volunteer Connection Ambassador as well as the Project
Site Supervisor. You'll participate in a brief orientation to learn about
the Volunteer Connection, the agency's mission and the work you'll be completing.
Most importantly, you'll learn why it's important for you to be there on this
day.
10. Should I bring anything with me to my Project
Site?
Energy, Enthusiasm and a Positive Attitude! Water and light snacks
will be provided. Based on the type of project and agency requests, your Ambassador
may ask that you bring some supplies from home that the agency may not have
on hand, i.e. rake, shovel, bucket, or work gloves.
11. What if the project I want to participate in is
already full?
Project assignments are on a first-come-first-serve basis and they fill up
quickly. If the project you want to participate in is full, be assured that
your help is most definitely needed elsewhere so simply select another project.
12. How can I participate with my young children?
Our large indoor volunteer drop-in
site at Calvary Bible Church in Boulder offers multiple projects that may
be better suited for families with younger children, people with disabilities
and those unable to meet the entire four hour time commitment at a specific project
site.
13. What if I cannot commit to the full four hour time-frame?

14. What if I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to
participate at a specific Project Site?
We have planned a large indoor drop-in site that will offer multiple projects
that may be better suited for families with younger children, people with
disabilities and those unable to meet the entire four hour time commitment.
15. What if it's raining on April 17th?
I Volunteer! Day is a rain or shine event. In the event
of inclement weather, please bring appropriate clothing, rain coat, boots,
etc. We have made efforts to ensure that most project sites have at least
some indoor work that needs to be completed but some do not.
16. What if I can't participate in the event but
still want to support Volunteer Connection?
1) You can support Volunteer Connection
by making a financial contribution or by providing in-kind services.
2) There will be lots of work in the weeks prior to the event (e.g. sorting
T-shirts, snacks and water). If you are interested in helping, please email [email protected]
