Project 1: Calvary Bible Church Drop-In Site, 3245 Kalmia Avenue in Boulder

Something for Everyone!

This site will include a variety of activities for everyone. We'll be making quilts for Project Linus, decorating meal bags for Project Angel Heart and assembling White Ribbons for the Longmont Ending Violence Initiative. These projects are appropriate for families with smaller children and individuals with disabilities. Volunteers do not have to stay for the entire four hours at this site. Also, please note that this site is available for drop-ins, although you may register in advance as well. Everyone is welcome!

Mission: We provide residential treatment, counseling and safe shelter to at-risk teens.

Project 3: BeadforLife

Mission: BeadforLife creates sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle of exchange that enriches everyone.

New Product Branding

Lift women and families out of extreme poverty by assisting BeadforLife to brand jewelry. Volunteers will attach small silver BeadforLife tags to jewelry.

Mission: To provide support, advocacy and education to those in our community who are infected with or affected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and to serve as an outreach and information center to prevent further transmission of HIV and the resulting Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

Help us empty, sweep and clean the basement and then move items to a consignment store. We'll also clean common areas, wash windows, possibly shampoo rugs and do some outdoor spring cleaning to spruce up our house.

Assist in preparing and planting our organic community garden to help provide food for our agency's food bank. Some landscaping may also be completed.

Mission: To conserve natural, cultural and agricultural resources and provide public uses that reflect sound resource management and community values.

Join in the creation of a suitable habitat for the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse and threatened species in Colorado, protected under the Endnagered Species Act. We'll be planting cottonwood trees along a restored creek.The trees planted on this day will join approximately 2000 other shrubs planted last year to restore the creek. The project will include digging holes, planting trees, and watering trees. Other activities available may include weeding, fence work and watering other planted shrubs.

Mission: To protect and enhance the health of the Boulder Creek watershed by community based stewardship through education, information and action

You'll never know what will be discovered in Boulder Creek until you join us on this adventure. We'll be doing major creek clean-up starting at Scott Carpenter Park and continuing west to Folsom, at least!

Mission: Our primary mission is to provide quality, affordable housing that is developed and managed with respect for the dignity of all involved. We also seek to create a sense of community strength and spirit that supports resident efforts to realize success in their lives.

Boulder Housing Partners needs your help to accomplish spring clean-up and yard work at various Elderly/Disabled Housing Partner locations! You'll feel great about taking part in this community clean-up effort which provides much needed yard work at elder/disabled persons' facilities that they're unable to do on their own. Based on the number of volunteers we may travel to 3 Housing Partner sites. Volunteers will need to provide transportation to various sites.

Mission: We provide outdoor-science-based residential programs to schools from the Front Range of Colorado. Cal-Wood's goals are: 1) to help all who come to Cal-Wood develop a greater appreciation for the natural world 2) to offer environmental education to those who would not otherwise experience it; and 3) to provide unique outdoor education opportunities in a special mountain setting.

Cal-Wood is located on 1200 acres of forested mountain land north of the old mining town of Jamestown. Volunteers will haul slash (branches), make slash piles and spread woodchips on roads and trails.

Mission: The Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD) provides information, resources and advocacy to assist people with disabilities in overcoming barriers to independent living. To accomplish our mission, CPWD provides a comprehensive support network of flexible and intensive services that build each person’s ability to live independently. The goal of these services is to increase the self-reliance of people with disabilities, support their families, educate other community agencies, and address discrimination.

Planting, weeding, cleaning, Oh My! Center for People With Disabilities' Accessible Garden has been designed specifically for people of all disabilities and is completely accessible for people who have mobility challenges (people in wheelchairs and walkers). It has also been designed for people who are blind or low vision, so that all people can enjoy the fruits of the Garden. (Even rabbits and deer visit our Accessible Garden)! Help us prepare the garden for growing vegetables that will be used in the nutrition and cooking classes which take place on-site. We'll re-stain the gazebo, trellis and benches, plant rose bushes & bulbs, mulch, play in the dirt and possibly re-build the picnic table and garden boxes.

Mission: We train and coach youth and at risk families to prevent child abuse and create ethical students that are successful.

Help us train & coach youth and at risk families to prevent child abuse and create ethical, successful students by assisting with our Peace Works Conference projects. We will have many activities to help get ready for our upcoming conference. There's much to do. We will print posters and character cards, laminate them, stuff and organize folders, work on a data base for participants, send out contracts and organize toys and other materials.

Mission: Lafayette Open Space provides outdoor experiences close to home. We manage a variety of open space properties for their natural values and for passive recreation opportunities.

Trees, shrubs, open space & more! We'll be planting and mulching trees and shrubs in two adjacent open space properties: Greenlee Wildlife Preserve and Thomas Organic Farm.

Mission: Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency relief, shelter, care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. CHR provides community resources through equine education, counseling, information and referral services. CHR is funded through individual donations, grants, bequests and corporate sponsorships.

Enjoy the morning fresh air, a little bit of exercise, beautiful views and sunshine! Come out to our farm to help horses in need. Choose from a variety of projects including, but not limited to, gardening, spring cleaning our barn and office, and putting a fresh coat of paint on our horse stalls.

Mission: Colorado Reptile Humane Society works to improve the lives of reptiles and amphibians in captivity and in the wild through education and action.

Help finish our newest Box Turtle habitat. We'll be cleaning and preparing habitats; building raised flower beds; planting plants and bushes and cleaning up winter debris. We'll also prepare our Desert Tortoise habitat for their spring release from hibernation along with getting everything ready for summer.

Mission: Community Cycles (CC) is a non-profit organization of bicycle enthusiasts whose mission is to aducate and advocate for the safe use of bicycles as an affordable, viable and sustainable means of transportation and personal enjoyment within our community. CC provides re-cycled bikes and a welcoming space to learn about bicycle repair, maintenance and operation through outreach and advocacy activities.

Community Cycles has over 400 bikes that need some TLC. We're taking them ALL out of storage to do minor repairs; fixin' flats, cleaning & more, then returning them to storage in an orderly fashion. Be part of this bike recycling process to ensure that those in need have a sturdy set of wheels!

Mission: EFAA helps those in our community whose immediate needs for food, shelter and other basic necessities cannot adequately be met by other means, and supports their efforts torward financial stabiltiy or self-sufficiency.

We will be cleaning and painting some emergency housing units; raking, weeding and doing other gardening activities outside the facility.

Mission: To provide a variety of high-quality residential and health care options in a caring and financially responsible environment. We are committed to meeting the emotional, physical, spiritual and social needs of our residents--always recognizing and respecting their need for dignity, community, activity, and economic security.

Spring into action with staff and residents at Frasier Meadows. We'll dig up sod, prepare soil for planting, amend architectural pots and do general clean-up in the gazebo area.

Mission: Growing Gardens’ mission is to enrich the lives of Boulder County residents through environmentally sustainable gardening programs that empower people to experience a direct and deep connection with plants, the land and each other.

Come join us to celebrate Earth Day and Spring with friends and family. Growing Gardens will have several opportunities to get your hands in the soil planting and preparing for the summer growing season. Cultiva will be hosting volunteers to transplant, weed, and prepare beds with Cultiva Youth. The Hawthorn Community Gardens will be hosting a path project and to lend a hand to gardeners who need a little help with the spring cleanup. The Childrens' Peace Garden will have volunteers help with prepare beds, turn the soil, and create a fun and nurturing environment for the little ones. Horticultural Therapy Garden will need to prepare the soil for planting, and keeping the pathways clear for wheel chairs. In the Greenhouse, we will be transplanting heirloom tomato starts for the Ginormous Plant Sale. We will have plenty of smiles and wonderful work. "Dig in!"

We will be working on our outdoor classroom, doing some painting and much-needed deep cleaning, basic carpentry, and working in our beautiful gardens (so they can be enjoyed during the spring, summer and fall months).

Mission: To promote self-sufficiency and educational success for low-income children by providing a long-term program of academic support, mentoring, tutoring, social and cultural enrichment, and the promise of tuition assistance for higher education upon high school graduation.

Organize and label children's books for our library in the new East Broadway Community Center.

Mission: Connecting adults and their communities to services that enhance their quality of life.

Volunteers will accomplish much needed spring clean-up and yard work at various older adult homes. We'll rake, bag leaves, trim bushes and more. You'll feel great about taking part in this community clean-up effort providing much needed yard work at seniors' homes that residents are unable to do on their own. Our goal is to spruce up 3 seniors' homes. Volunteers will need to provide transportation to various sites.

Mission: To establish a coordinated community-wide awareness and response to domestic violence in Longmont.

The White Ribbon Campaign is a campaign to enlist men in the effort to end violence against women. We need to assemble 5,500 white ribbons for men to wear during the campaign. Domestic Violence Awareness Month takes place every October and purple is the color for domestic violence awareness. We need to assumble several thousand purple ribbons, as well.

Mission: Providing for the welfare of animals and promoting and nourishing the fundamental bonds between people and animals.

In preparation for our Birthday Celebration Parties and Ella's walk (formerly Furry Friends walk) we'll be literally stuffing 300 goodie bags with all kinds of treats. Join us!

Mission: To unify community resources to help people in the St. Vrain Region meet their individual needs and move toward self-sufficiency.

Beautify the interior and exterior of the OUR Center's Intake Office Building. Volunteers will dust and wash baseboards and walls throughout the OUR Center as well as dust and vacuum window sills and wash windows. Give something back to the Center that gives so much to our community.

Mission: Project Angel Heart promotes the health, dignity and self-sufficiency of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing nutritious, home-delivered meals with care and compassion.

Help people with life-threatening illnesses feel loved and remembered by decorating a meal bag with a cheerful picture or message. Bring your creativity and well wishes.

Mission: First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Blanketeers will be assembling quilts for the fostering/mentoring program at Kempe Foundation. Material will be provided, sewing experience is helpful but not required.

Mission: ReSource (aka ReSource Yard), promotes waste reduction through innovative landfill diversion programs. The ReSource Yard salvages used building materials and resells them at great prices, making it possible to reuse and recycle building materials that are traditionally discarded during construction and demolition (C&D) and basic remodeling.

Learn how to turn trash into reusable construction materials. Volunteers will help in the processing of lumber. This includes de-nailing, cutting and sorting dimensional lumber for resale. We have special pneumatic tools that make this job fun and social. You can even talk with your friends while working; all while enjoying one of the best views in Boulder! All the work we do will be done overlooking the snow-capped Rockies.

Mission: To cultivate attitudes, skills and opportunities for living peacefully with self, others and the world.

Spruce up our Teaching Peace House! This old house needs some basic repairs and maintenance including creating a new wheelchair ramp, interior painting, gardening, and some general repairs. Bring your tool belt and maintenance experience.

Mission: To provide high quality, accessible early care and education programs, and to advocate for higher standards in the field of early childhood education.

Sand and stain shelves; playground improvement projects; deep cleaning and more odds and ends. Help put a smile on kids' faces by improving their classrooms and playground!

Mission: The Living School is a learning environment in which each child is free to pursue creative and academic areas that appeal to them. The school provides a supportive location for this learning activity as well as a wide variety of mentors and experientail learning situations. The Living School is run democratically, and is based on the belief that inherent interest, creativity and relationship skills are essential for a fulfilled life.

We have begun a large-scale cleaning project in an effort to clear out the old; make room for the new and simply organize the items we have. This task is much bigger than what 8 kids and one adult can accomplish. So, we are inviting those who enjoy organizing and cleaning to assist us with this valuable task.

Mission: To provide accessible, confidential and comprehensive gynecological and reproductive healthcare, including sexual health services and education. Women's Health envisions a healthy community of people empowered to make informed choices about their sexual health and well-being.

Yeah, Spring Cleaning! We will break up in to groups to accomplish a few different tasks. One group will work on prepping and planting our flower bed for the spring. The second group will work on sprucing up the grounds by trimming weeds, raking leaves and picking up trash. The thrid group will work together to make some hand-painted signs for our Teen Clinic in Longmont.

Mission: The vision of Boulder Pride is that Boulder County serve as a model of equality, respect, and well-being for LGBTQ people. To achieve our vision, our mission is to foster safe environments for self-expression, gathering, support, and dialogue; advocate for social justice; collaborate with others who share our vision; celebrate the contributions of the many facets of our community; and educate the public about the experiences of LGBTQ people.

We have over 500 people visiting and utilizing the Boulder Pride House each year, and want to create a yard that is welcoming and pleasant for folks to visit and hang out in. This year we will be cleaning-up the yard and planting new plants and bulbs…to make it a bright and cheerful place for those who visit, as well as those who are simply strolling by. We are right next door to Lucille’s, which means our neighborhood gets a lot of foot-traffic, especially on the weekends!

Mission: Habitat for Humanity is a people-to-people partnership drawing families and communities together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat is committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not only to the construction of houses. We build with people who are living in inadequate housing and who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means.

Volunteering on Construction worksites is not just for hammering and nailing. It also provides a unique opportunity for friendship, fellowship, teamwork and bonding. Volunteers often have an opportunity to work alongside Habitat Homeowners who are working to achieve their necessary volunteer hours. Hands-on construction volunteerism provides a sense of achievement, is empowering, and leaves a lasting contribution to the community.
